Do you talk yourself out of doing things for your business because you don’t have enough faith in yourself?
I do, all the time.
Self confidence is something that the professional crafter very rarely has. We second guess ourselves ALL the time, we think we aren’t good enough, we haven’t done enough, the list goes on …
We really are our own worst enemy.
Quite a few years ago now I create a meme and posted it on the Guild Facebook page without any thought that it may prove popular. It went viral! I’m still stunned to this day and have never been able to replicate it. I think it shows just how far reaching our lack of self belief is though.
I have been working in this industry for ten years now and I still have a huge problem with this. Even when my customers tell me how they value my work it is always that one negative comment that strikes home.
So what can we do?
- We need to believe in ourselves.
- Have faith in our work.
- Listen to the good feedback and BELIEVE it.
- Don’t over analyse negative comments. Deal with them and move on.
- Keep telling ourseves that WE CAN DO THIS until we feel it building within us.
We have so many talented members at the PCG and I am proud of every single one of them. I am very aware that many of them excel at what they do inspite of very difficult circumstances. There is always help and advice when a fellow member needs it. We may have trouble being confident about ourselves but as a community there is no stopping us.
